The Spires Glasgow

The rooms were clean and the beds comfortable, but the apartment was cold since the living room was the only source of heat. We had to leave the bedroom doors open. The heating is faulty, with what seemed like only one radiator working in the whole place. The main bathroom bath tap didn’t work at all. The shower tap came off in my hand, and only hot water worked, so it was basically unusable unless you wanted third degree burns. We all had to share the one en suite shower. I was only there for one night, and it’s central to everything you need. Lots of reviews complain about the homeless shelter next door, but it didn’t affect my stay. I’m fortunate enough to be able to afford food and a holiday.

The apartments are a great size, especially for the price, and the location is great. On our first night, the duty manager was spectacular while dealing with a serious fire next door, evacuating the building, and then guests wanting the police to let them go back to bed. It wasn’t great for us, and it was worse for her. She did nothing wrong and handled it as well as she could.

There’s loads of room in the apartment, and the Merchant City location is great. But for the price I’d hoped for more from The Spires. The experience felt pretty ordinary, with a few functional issues that made the stay feel less than premium.

The room was just as described, with a good shower, a kitchen that had what we needed, and a washer/dryer that worked well. The location is downtown with bus stops all around. The area isn’t ideal, but we had no trouble because we made sure not to be out and about late at night.
