Ramada By Wyndham East Kilbride

The room was what I expected and the bed was comfortable, but as a solo guest I didn't feel safe. The car park and lifts are open to the public, and the location isn't particularly nice. There was an unpleasant drain smell and the lighting was poor. On the first night I was freezing and couldn't find the heating instructions. It was late, and I didn't want to leave the room to sort it out because getting to reception meant taking a public lift.

The room was lovely and just what you'd expect, and breakfast was very nice. Dinner, though, was disappointing: the portion was smaller than a child's serving. Luckily the meal was on company expenses. At breakfast, the young woman clearing up was the only staff member who interacted with me. No one else smiled or even said good morning. At checkout, nobody asked how the stay had been or thanked me. There was simply nothing. I booked for three work nights because I've generally had good experiences with Ramada. After a long drive, finding the parking was confusing. I circled the complex a couple of times, then reception told me to use the “permit” bay and they'd sort it out. I wish that had been included in the booking confirmation. I'd recommend this hotel only if its location suits your business trip. Reception is on floor 12, and getting there can be a fight when other guests are trying to go down to their rooms after breakfast.

Our room was freezing because the heating didn't work, and the cleanliness was appalling. There were spit stains on the carpet. The staff came across as strange and unhelpful, and the layout was confusing, with reception on the top floor. I felt completely unsafe here. The entrance from the parking lot seemed very shady, and the parking area was poorly lit at night. This isn't a family-friendly place and wasn't up to the brand's expected standard. Save your money and stay somewhere else.

The rooms are spacious and clean, but everything else feels like a mess. Hallways smell of marijuana and vomit, and the tables and chairs are dirty. Breakfast is usually only half stocked, and the food is average at best. Even when you ask for your room to be done, it doesn't get done. Getting to the entrance is a hassle too. You have to go up through the parking lot or pass through the half-dead shopping mall. This hotel is going downhill.
