The old-fashioned decor gave the hotel a lovely feel, and the staff were kind. We spent Christmas here while on holiday in Scotland. There’s also a nice pool and gym for a bit of exercise. I’d recommend it for a holiday stay.
We had a lovely couple of meals here, and the restaurant and bar staff were polite and helpful. The cocktails were great too. Our room was spotless and had everything we needed, though it was a little small and very warm. It had a huge radiator you could adjust, and looked out over the garden. Allison had arranged the room ahead of our arrival and gave me a really warm welcome at reception. We were there for two nights over Easter weekend. The leisure facilities were good and quiet on Friday. Breakfast was better the first morning than on Easter Sunday, though the restaurant was much busier that day, so that may explain it. Local singers provided free entertainment in the bar on Friday and livened things up until someone complained. I'd stay again.
The room was lovely, and so were the welcome, bar and restaurant. Breakfast was fabulous. They tidied the room but didn't make the bed, which was my only criticism. I'd happily return.
The staff were a real help getting us and our bags down the stairs and out to our tour bus. We only stayed one night and had to leave early the next morning, so there wasn't much time to enjoy the comfortable hotel, grounds or pool. It's a lovely old place, surrounded by lawns and trees, with a great view of the hills. I'd love to come back and relax there.
The old-fashioned style suited us, and we liked the outside lawn. The staff were attentive and friendly, including serving drinks outside. Our room was large and very clean, but it was extremely hot, and could really use air conditioning. The bed was hard and would benefit from a mattress topper. We were on the top floor, so ask for a lower room if stairs are difficult. The Scottish breakfast wasn't very good: the tattie scone was so hard we couldn't cut it, and the bacon was tough. We switched to the continental breakfast instead. Even so, we enjoyed our stay.
