The room was clean and nicely decorated, and the pub had real ales plus a very good Indian restaurant on site. It’s a bit out on a limb, though there are two other places within easy walking distance. I stopped for one night and would recommend it, and come back. Be aware the steps up to the rooms are steep, so it won’t suit anyone with limited mobility.

Tried the new menu at the Queens Arms Old Glossop and really enjoyed it. The garlic and Stilton mushrooms were so tasty, and the choice runs from small plates to signature dishes. Excellent value, with friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff. The pub was spotless and the fire was very welcoming. I was too full from lunch to try the crumble, but I’ll be back for it.

The fire was already lit and very welcoming when my mate and I came in cold and soaking wet after a local walk. It was busy, but Izzy behind the bar on Friday evening worked incredibly hard looking after everyone. Friendly pub and great service.

After our first day on the Pennine Way, we stayed one night. The room was nice, with a large bed up two stairs. We had good food and drinks in the pub, and breakfast was good too. The staff were friendly and helpful.

A real hidden gem. The landlord made us feel welcome, there was a great choice of drinks, and we had a great night. I’d definitely return.
