Tontine Hotel

The rooms were beautiful and clean when we stayed overnight. I gave it three stars because I held my engagement party there in April 2025. The staff were lovely, but the food was disappointing. There were vegans and vegetarians, including me, and none of us got a hot filled roll. I didn't think hot filled rolls were a great choice to start with, so none of us ate for the whole night. We only got an apology, nothing else.

I was staying there for a work course. The staff were friendly, and my room was comfortable enough, though it could maybe use a wee facelift. I ate dinner in the restaurant, and every meal I had was lovely.

I went to a wake there, and even though it was a sad occasion, the staff were fantastic, attentive and quick with the food. It was buffet style, with scones, sausage rolls and the like. A selection of alcoholic and soft drinks was available, and you could also order at the bar at the usual prices, which I thought were quite reasonable for a hotel. My family ordered some bar snacks and said they enjoyed them. They were very well presented, I must say. My only small gripe was that the funeral guests were politely asked to leave by 6:30pm. It's a lovely hotel that brings together beautiful period features with a modern style menu and facilities. I'll definitely return at some point.

The room was lovely and the food was good. Drinks like a pint cost more than they do in the local pubs.
