Maitlandfield House Hotel

Our guests said we’d picked a lovely venue, and we were so pleased with how the day turned out. We had a small, simple, intimate wedding, but Claire and the rest of the MHH staff made it feel really special. They also handled a few dietary requirements well, and the food was top quality. We hadn’t found the right place by March, but with Claire, our brilliant wedding organiser, and the venue’s flexibility, we made it to the altar on our chosen date just over three months later. We had an amazing wedding in July and a day we’ll never forget. Highly recommend!

The food was 10 out of 10, and those chips are to die for. The bed gave me the best sleep ever, too. I was here for work, but it felt like a holiday. The staff were so kind, helpful and chatty, and nothing was too much trouble. It felt like home, so I’ve got a heavy heart about leaving tomorrow. I really don’t want to go, but good things come to an end. I’ll be back, FACT. This place has left a mark on my heart ❤️

The hotel has a charming, slightly old-fashioned feel that took a little getting used to, but the team’s warmth and the cleanliness soon won me over. Everyone was friendly, attentive and ready to help, and the service was top-notch. Breakfast and dinner were both excellent, and I had a wonderful stay. I also want to apologize for the cigarette smell in my room one day. I smoked outside with the door open, and I think some of it drifted in. I also had a Coke can in the bin with cigarette butts I’d picked up on a hike because I didn’t want to leave them in nature. I did not smoke in the room. Many thanks to the whole team!

The room got so warm that we weren’t comfortable most nights, and ended up sleeping on top of the blankets. The shower was pretty useless, though the bathtub was great. Staff were very friendly and helped with everything we needed. Breakfast came with the stay, and dinner cost extra. The food was always very good. Housekeeping was on point, though we hung up our towels as the sign asked, and they changed them anyway. There were no washcloths, just larger hand towels, which seemed odd to me, though it was like that everywhere we stayed. All in all, an alright place.
