Don't let the exterior Conservatory put you off when you first arrive. It needs replacing, though the process takes time, and the hotel itself is great. The rooms are a little dated, but only in a minor way, and in my view the value, service, and experience outweigh that. The owners and staff were wonderful and as helpful as possible when a few issues came up during our stay. I had a minor complaint about the bathtub in my room, which they addressed and fixed right away. Breakfast and dinner were outstanding, with great food and value. If I return to Scotland, I'll stay here again. Haddington is lovely too, about as charming as it gets.

This place felt like home, and leaving brought me to tears. I travel often and have never reacted that way before. My family and I had one of our most memorable stays here. It isn't the fanciest hotel I've stayed at, but there's something special about it that I can't quite put into words. I'll miss it dearly. Thank you for being so wonderful.

We were so pleased with the service at our wedding. We wanted a simple, intimate gathering, and Claire and the rest of the MHH staff made it very special. Our guests also said we'd chosen a lovely venue. They accommodated our guests' dietary requirements, and the food was top quality. We hadn't found the right place by March, but with just over three months to go, Claire, our amazing wedding organiser, helped us make it to the altar on our chosen date. They were flexible and able to host our smaller wedding in July. We'll never forget the day, highly recommended!

The food was 10 out of 10, and the chips are to die for. The staff were kind, helpful, chatty, and nothing was too much for them. I got the best sleep ever in that bed. I was here for work, but it felt like a holiday. This has to be the loveliest hotel I've stayed at, it felt like home, and I have a heavy heart leaving tomorrow. I really don't want to go, but all good things come to an end. Bank on it, I'll be back, FACT. This place left a mark on my heart ❤️

The team made the whole stay wonderful, and I want to thank them all. Breakfast was excellent, dinner was just as good, and the service was top notch. Everyone was extremely friendly, attentive, and ready to help. The hotel has a charming, slightly old-fashioned feel that seemed unusual at first, but the cleanliness and warmth of the team quickly made up for it. I also want to sincerely apologize that my room smelled of cigarette smoke one day. I didn't smoke inside, but outside with the door open, and I think the smell drifted in. That day, there was also a Coke can in the trash with cigarette butts I'd picked up on a hike because I didn't want to leave them in nature.
