St Paul's Hotel

Breakfast was very good, especially the à la carte choices like Eggs Benedict. The staff were attentive and helpful throughout, though the daily room cleaning could have been better. We had a spacious, comfortable room that showed some wear, which is understandable in a building of this age. This charming historic hotel has a character that’s hard to find in other places to stay nearby. It’s about a 6-8 minute walk from the main Hammersmith station, with lots of shops and restaurants close by.

A really luxurious-feeling place, and the room was quiet and comfortable. It was spacious and high tech, with tea, coffee and plenty of toiletries, plus a super modern bathroom. I’d love to come back soon!

The bathroom was very pretty, and the white bed linen seemed clean, but I was concerned about the cleanliness of the decorative pillows, throws and curtains. My loft room was cold in February, which I expected given how close it was to the roof, even with the AC turned all the way up. A lot of the heat seemed to escape through the bathroom. I also took lots of chocolates from the front desk.

This was a nightmare from check-in onward. I found hair on the sink and a pillow, plus crumbs or dirt on the duvet. I asked housekeeping to change the sheets immediately, but when I returned that night there was still a hair on a pillow, a different one this time. With no housekeeping around and no other rooms available, I had to sleep on dirty sheets. The receptionist said they’d change them the next day. Instead, I came back tonight and found two hairs on the duvet. The receptionist, an Indian man, said nothing could be done and there was no manager around, so once again I had to sleep in the dirty sheets. I doubt the sheets had actually been changed at all. The shower head had limescale and mold buildup, with a hair dangling from it when I checked in. The room was extremely cramped, with too little storage, and being next to the lobby meant I could hear people moving outside. For a hotel calling itself four star, it only provided tiny shower essentials, not full-sized ones. I asked housekeeping for more, but none arrived. It feels like a joke for a supposedly four-star place. I’d give it two stars at most. I asked several times to speak to a manager during my stay, but was told they weren’t around and that I should email. More than two weeks later, I still had no reply. Nobody seemed willing to help fix this during or after the stay. The lack of accountability says everything about the place. Truly disgusting and unsanitary.
