Getting a decent night's sleep was difficult for us. A steady buzzing by the headboard played three electronic tones repeatedly, keeping both me and my partner awake during our stay. The bed was firmer than I like and the pillows only mediocre, though that wasn't surprising for the price. Both our room cards stopped working twice. They hadn't been near our phones, but staff blamed the cards being close to phones and didn't seem to take it seriously. Since both cards failed at the same time on both occasions, I suspect a wider system problem. We found out while by the elevators, and wondered whether a fire alarm would release the doors if the lifts were unusable. I doubt it, though I'm not sure. As international travellers, we also weren't sure how we'd contact reception from outside if we got locked out late at night. The main appeal is how walkable it is from the train station and town centre. Everything we wanted to do in Harrogate was 5-10 minutes away. If you're looking to pay less than at nearby competitors and can live with some drawbacks, it may be worth booking, but be warned, sleep might be hard to come by.

Everything was clean, the staff were good and the service was good too. Our room was perhaps a little small, but it was fine. Two nights with breakfast one morning cost less than £100, so what's not to like?

It's a great place to stay, just a short walk from the centre, and the staff were really friendly. We tried the two-course meal deal, but the mains disappointed us. Some items mentioned in the food descriptions were missing, and the dishes weren't very hot. The desserts made up for that. Our fairly new room had a bathroom fan that didn't work, a sink plug broken in the closed position, and a very loose shelf.

Parking is the one thing missing for guests. There are two council car parks close by, one open air and one multi-storey. The multi-storey closes overnight but hotel card keys can open it. I parked outdoors, so I didn't test that myself. The rest was what I'd expect from a Travelodge. The room was reasonably quiet and clean. There were some unpleasant brown marks on the shower base, but they washed off easily. Breakfast was decent and well stocked, and the staff were cheerfully pleasant. The hotel was on offer when I booked, which made it a very good experience overall.

In and out of check-in in about 60 seconds, with efficient, polite staff. The room was the usual standard and the bed was comfortable, though I'm never sure whether it's a Travelodge 1.0 or 2.0 mattress. The car park was about 50 metres away and cost £2.60 overnight, if you arrive after 4pm, or maybe 6pm, and leave by 10am. We used the Aircon, which took a while to kick in but did cool the room. Recommend.
