Senlac Guesthouse

Everything was extremely clean, and the water in the shared bathroom was lovely and hot. The bathroom is incredibly small and up on the top floor. Still, it was a fairly pleasant, peaceful place to spend a night.

I barely slept because the bed was lumpy and I could feel a spring. The shower didn't work, and the blinds wouldn't shut properly, leaving the room light all night. Some rooms look nice, but mine didn't, and I wish I'd chosen somewhere else. I told the owner in the morning. She said the previous guest hadn't complained, so she didn't see why I should, and was incredibly rude. She also said I should have called in the middle of the night to move rooms, although Booking.com showed none were left. They'd asked me what time I'd arrive, so I made sure to be there on time, but nobody was there. Some contractors were left waiting outside too. She blamed me for her being late and said I should have called. I did, on both numbers, many times. If her phone wasn't taking calls, I don't see how she expected me to get through in the night. Next time I'll try an Air BnB, or even a hostel.

Helpful staff and an easy check-in and check-out made things straightforward. The guesthouse was clean and comfortable, with a shower that was simple to use. It's centrally located and good value for money. I stayed for two nights, 2-3/7/25, and was happy with the experience. I'd recommend it.

The room and bedding were clean, the owner was friendly, and the road was quiet. It's an excellent location, a short walk from the seafront and town centre. My only concern was being asked for all my credit card details. We stay in guesthouses and hotels on weekend trips quite often, and I've never been asked for that before. Apart from that, we had a nice weekend.
