Herriot's in Hawes

Liz and Glenn were friendly and full of local knowledge, with plenty of suggestions for walks and things to do nearby. We had just returned from a lovely two-night stay at this fabulous B&B. It's centrally located, with plenty of free parking within walking distance. Liz cooked an amazing breakfast using high quality ingredients. We can't recommend the place highly enough.

Glen and Liz were very hospitable, and the beds were comfortable. The breakfast was delicious, with options for all kinds of diets. Herriots is in a brilliant spot close to local amenities, which was really convenient. We had an excellent stay in Hawes, five stars!

Liz and Glen are wonderful hosts, and the breakfast was first rate. This is a great B&B in the heart of lovely Hawes, with a nice bedroom, comfortable beds and a good shower. It's ideal for walkers, and I'd recommend their Herriots Way package.

Glenn and his wife were welcoming and friendly. After breakfast, Glenn asked what I had planned and suggested an itinerary that suited me well, with a few changes of my own. The homemade shortbread added each day was excellent, and breakfast had a wide selection: tea and coffee, cereal including homemade granola, porridge, cooked meats, fruit, Greek yogurt, toast and homemade jam or conserve. I don't eat much at breakfast, so I chose fruit, toast, mushrooms and hash browns, which kept me going until late afternoon without making me feel too full. Remember to fill out the form and leave it downstairs by evening. My room was spacious, with comfortable beds and a clean bathroom. I was travelling alone and was lucky to get a twin room, so there was plenty of space. A corner window looked over the Main Street in Hawes. There was a water bottle, kettle, tea bags, Nescafé coffee powder, sugar and milk, as well as a hair dryer and wardrobe. The TV was small, but probably right for the room. This is a great base for hikers, right in the centre of Hawes, a short walk from the Wensleydale creamery and the Dales Countryside Museum. Hardraw Falls is also walkable, about 1.5 miles away. There are plenty of places to eat and drink within a 3-4 minute walk. The downside is that there's no parking for cars. Luckily, the owners showed me a safe spot for my motorcycle. I definitely recommend staying here. I found it through a Google search, as it wasn't showing up on the popular travel websites. Google took me to a direct booking link, and booking was quick and easy.
