Our room was stunning, with lots of space, a freestanding bath and beautiful valley views. There was tea and plenty of fresh coffee, and I liked being able to get fresh milk from the lobby. The meal that night was delicious in the newly decorated bar, where we sat by the fire. Peyton was so helpful and lovely, and made the evening special with recommendations. Breakfast was generous and delicious, and the surrounding countryside is perfect for walking. Afternoon tea and the cheese board made for a really relaxed day. The hotel has a lovely presence, but feels relaxed and friendly inside. We could come back in muddy walking boots and warm up by the fire, and there are lots of thoughtful touches throughout. A week before our visit, someone called to ask what time we'd like our meal and afternoon tea. When we arrived, a fire was going in the lobby, which was very welcoming. They'd just reopened after some decorating, and it wasn't quite finished, so the bar was closed and the lounge felt a bit cold. The fire was lit, but I guess it hadn't been going for a few days, as the building was definitely warmer the next day. We had our complimentary hot drink and were then shown to our room. A lovely place to relax and enjoy the countryside.

We had afternoon tea and really enjoyed it. There was lots of tasty food, and we sat in a cosy spot by the open fire with lovely views. The staff were attentive, and peacocks and friendly chickens wandered around the grounds. We couldn't finish everything, but the kind waiter was happy to pack it into separate boxes for us. We'll definitely return, probably for an overnight stay next time.

We had a relaxing stay on Tuesday, with lovely views and very friendly, helpful staff. Dinner was a disappointment, though. We'd been looking forward to the rhubarb crème brûlée, but it had sold out. There were only two other couples dining there all day, so I can't see how that happened unless the chef couldn't be bothered to make more or they hadn't ordered enough from the supplier. At £15, I'd expect the dishes on the menu to be available.

We booked the wintering package and thought it was great value. The rooms were gorgeous, the food was delicious and beautifully presented, and every staff member we met gave excellent service. The views are truly stunning. We could hear people talking or using the radio or TV in the rooms next to us, but only faintly, and it didn't really bother us once we put some music on. We had a fantastic two-night stay at Simonstone Hall and would definitely return. Highly recommend it for a relaxing escape.

From the moment we arrived, staff were there to welcome us, with beautiful views across the Yorkshire Dales and peacocks wandering about. The decor is incredible, and the place has the feel of Country Living magazine, while still being somewhere you can come in with muddy boots after a trek and order a carefully made cocktail. Thanks to Ashley for the cocktail. The bedrooms were warm and comfortable, with lovely little boutique touches, and the breakfast and other food were delicious. A walk to the waterfall is a must-see in the area. Thanks to Jake and his wonderful team for a great stay. We took a chance booking Simonstone Hall and, wow, we'll definitely be back.
