Ibis Styles Haydock

I was there for a week while training at Kelly's, and found it a pleasant place to stay. The beds were comfy, the rooms very nice, and the staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast had plenty to choose from, including cereal, yogurt, fruit, toast and a cooked option. First time staying there, and I enjoyed it.

The staff really made the stay for me, they were brilliant. For the price, the room was clean and perfectly fine, with what you need. I brought my dog along halfway through and that was no problem, though it cost £10 per night. You can't really expect much more for the money.

The free guest parking was a bonus, and both the lobby and room were clean. The lobby was bright and welcoming, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Still, I wouldn't stay again, though I hope they can improve. Our room had several maintenance problems. There was a persistent unpleasant smell, probably from the shower drains, it stayed too hot even with the radiator off, the desk sockets didn't work, and the toilet seat moved every time we used it. The room upkeep didn't match the good service from the front-of-house team. We paid for breakfast during our three-night stay, but none of the cooked food was really hot. I wouldn't buy it again.

The beds were very comfortable and the rooms made for a great stay. There was a booking snag caused by the middle company, but reception staff were extremely helpful getting it sorted. Brilliant help, and I'd gladly recommend the hotel.
