Mark was wonderful company and such a good host. It felt like catching up with a genuine old friend. The pub has had a complete makeover but still holds onto the charm of a traditional English Inn. Our freshly prepared meal used local produce: I had roast beef in a Yorkshire Pudding Wrap with fresh, beautifully cooked vegetables and roast potatoes. Mum had homemade steak pie and said it was the best she'd ever tasted. I first met Mark a couple of years ago, when he took over, and we'd always said we'd return. Wish we hadn't waited so long. Can't wait to bring the rest of the family.

The area and views are amazing, and it almost feels like being in another country. Everyone local was kind, saying hello or good morning as they passed. It was our first stay, and the staff were so welcoming. Mark was especially kind, always checking everything was okay, and they couldn't have done more for us. Our room was lovely, with a really comfy bed, and we were chuffed Netflix worked for a bit of viewing before sleep. The food was amazing, with full plates, and breakfast was really good too. Everything tasted fresh and locally sourced, definitely not like supermarket food. We're already looking at coming back, 100%.
What a gem! I came for one night of me time, and Mark the landlord gave me a huge welcome as soon as I walked in, then showed me to my clean room. It had everything for a comfortable stay and lovely views across the area. Mark was on hand if anything else was needed. The pub is cosy and well organised, with super friendly local people. I didn't have an evening meal because I wasn't hungry, but I saw the food coming out and it looked stunning, with huge portions. Mark is a wonderful host. I felt like I'd known him all my life. He takes real pride in the Pub/B&B and, from what I gather, has turned it around from how it used to be. The full English breakfast was up there with the best I've had. Every bite tasted top quality, with local ingredients, and there was plenty of coffee and juice. Thanks to the lovely lady who served breakfast, so friendly, smiley and attentive. I enjoyed every minute and honestly felt sad to leave. Mark came to say goodbye, and I've definitely made a friend for life. Thanks for making my stay so lovely. Mark, I'll be back to see you soon. Lots of love and hugs, Lucy 🫶
The young woman behind the bar made us feel welcome when we stopped for lunch. My partner liked the fidget pie, and my hot beef roll was packed with tender beef and gravy, with a huge helping of chips, freshly cooked carrots and peas. Great value after a long walk. It was chilly inside at first since the pub had only just opened, but we'd still come back.
The staff were so accommodating with my partner's dietary needs and even helped us find local walks. Our room and bathroom were clean and a good size, the bed was really comfortable, and the TV had apps. We also enjoyed the homemade food made with local ingredients, especially breakfast. The pub feels warm and welcoming, with a lovely historic character, and the setting has beautiful views everywhere. We had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend it.
