The draft beer selection was a nice surprise, and the staff were really friendly. We enjoyed a lovely Sunday lunch, nicely presented, and £15.95 felt like great value. We’re on holiday here and will definitely come back.

After a long walk from Slaley Hall Lodges (Landal) into Slaley village, we were glad to find this lovely pub. The staff were kind and the Guinness was a great pint. We should have stayed for food, especially since the pub at Slaley Hall wasn’t great. I’d love to return and try the Sunday dinner.

The Sunday lunch was generous, home-cooked and affordable, with a good two or three course option. Will looked after us politely and attentively, while David and Sam made the place feel warm and welcoming from the moment we arrived. It was our first time meeting them, but they made us feel as if we’d known them for years, without hovering or changing the pub’s homely feel. There’s a large garden at the back and a more traditional restaurant area. The front seating area welcomes dogs, which was a big plus for us. Our dog Roo got plenty of friendly attention too. We’d happily return for another proper Sunday roast in such a relaxed pub.

The mixed grill was the standout, every piece of meat cooked just right. The owners were welcoming, and there were some great specials on offer. A nice pub, and I’d recommend stopping in if you’re passing through.

We called in for lunch while staying at the nearby Springhouse Country Park. The couple running the pub were really nice, and we had Shepherds Pie served in a traditional pot with chips. It’s a lovely community pub, and we’ll definitely be back. Best of luck with your wedding day! Michael & Tricia Hall
