That brownie was well made, and the burger was excellent. Everything was very good and reasonably priced. The pub has a cosy, traditional feel, with a log fire and a lively but still comfortable Saturday night. Food took about 30 minutes, just as the menu said. Ordering at the bar or table was fine, though we waited a bit for someone to take our order. Dogs are welcome, which I didn’t mind, but I can see it not suiting everyone. I’d happily come back if I’m in the area.

The food was absolutely lovely, and the staff were so helpful and polite. The barman, the woman serving, and the younger staff were all cheerful and focused on customers. We’d tried a few pubs nearby to arrange a meeting with a friend, but nobody called back or answered. The Crossways picked up straight away, sorted out a table for us, and gave us a warm welcome. Our friend stayed overnight and said the room was great, with helpful staff and nothing to worry about. A real jewel among surviving pubs. We’ll definitely return.

We popped in with friends on Saturday lunchtime for a few beers, and the steak pie alone made the trip worthwhile. There was a very good choice of ales too. I can’t comment on the hotel, only the beer and food. It’s lovely to find a regular pub where you can chat without TV or loud music. Highly recommended for a beer, lunch, and conversation with friends.

We live in our van, so this is a great place for us and we’ll stop in at least once a week for a beer and food. They let us stay overnight in the campervan in the car park, which was handy. Food’s served Tuesday to Saturday, and on Monday nights a pizza guy parks up with freshly made pizzas at good prices. Friendly staff, friendly dogs, and a log burner when it’s cold. They even play classic movie theme tunes in the toilets, pretty cool.

We stayed overnight in the motorhome car park as BritStop members and got a lovely welcome from the barman. It’s a huge, perfectly level car park, with a gorgeous field alongside to wake up to. There’s a great choice of real ales, and they’re a Camra member too. A cute dawg called Maple likes to chill by the bar. Perfect!
