We were there for a wedding and had a good time at the event. The staff were helpful and the service was good. Our room was fine, and the bed was comfortable. The window seals were broken, so cold air and road noise came through, but we could live with that since we were only sleeping there. I did find a stain on my towel, which I thought was unacceptable. I also asked for an extra pillow and was told there was no house service.

I’m glad I booked despite reading the negative reviews. The rooms are roomy and comfortable, and the hotel was clean and tidy for the very reasonable price. The food has plenty of choice, tastes great, and is well priced. Janet makes everyone feel welcome and creates a lovely atmosphere, as do the very friendly staff. The pool can get busy, sure, but it’s still a pool! I’m honestly baffled by some of the other comments, which seem like vendettas. If you want a comfortable, friendly stay, I’d book.

My room was in poor shape, and I’d recommend avoiding the place. The door didn’t close by itself, so you could leave it open without noticing or end up sleeping with it open. There was an old fold-up bed right inside, taking up the little floor space available. I suspect it was there to cover a damp patch where the paint was flaking. The bath sealant had black mould, the toilet kept trickling into the bowl, and the bathroom vent was dusty. There were seven dead, squashed mosquitoes on the walls. The wardrobe hinge was broken, the TV remote didn’t work, and one bedside table was broken too. The curtains barely covered the window, so you’re up when the sun comes up. The ironing board was just propped against the wardrobe, with two holes in the wall where I’m guessing a bracket had been. The heating didn’t work. They gave me a heater, but it wasn’t much help. The rooms are very dated, which would be fine if they were maintained. The spa and gym also cost extra. Luckily I only had to stay one night for work.

Tried their Sunday carvery for the first time today. It was a real bargain, the staff were friendly, and the service was great. We really enjoyed it and will definitely be back. Would recommend!

It felt like a homely place, and I’d stay again. The rooms were clean and didn’t look shabby, though the furniture and bathroom suites could do with an update. There was a good range of breakfast options, but the cooked buffet food wasn’t very hot. It was warm enough to eat, though. All in all, it was fine.
