Muthu Oban Regent Hotel

We’d originally booked the Alexandra but were moved to the regent because of work being done. From outside, the building didn’t look promising, and we thought it might be a disaster, but inside it was lovely. The reception area was nice and the staff very friendly. Our room looked over the water, the bed was really comfortable, and it was quiet. Breakfast the next day was nice, and the restaurant was lovely and very clean. I’d return.

The outside looked tired next to the surrounding hotels, so the hotel was a pleasant surprise. Our room was comfortable and spacious, and the bathroom was bigger than most we had during our time in Scotland. The dining room is large, breakfast was a lovely buffet, and the car park is just across the street. I’d definitely recommend it.

The worst hotel I’ve stayed in. The basic room had a Freeview TV with a patchy signal, and streaming services weren’t available. There was no hot water in the en-suite bathroom. The reception phone had been switched off, so no one could complain. Everything felt off-putting, and staff didn’t even apologise.

The room was spacious, with a roomy bathroom, and everything was clean and nicely decorated. It had the facilities you’d hope for and a great view. The staff were very helpful. There’s some free parking right outside, but we didn’t want to risk being blocked in by other cars, so we used the car park across the street, which wasn’t too expensive.
