The second time we stayed, just after Christmas 2025, was disappointing. We later heard the owner had suffered a tragedy that year, but the room wasn’t very clean and smelled of drains when we arrived. The smell faded after we used the bathroom. We had to ask for another chair and hand towels, which we thought should already have been provided. It was okay, but not worth the cost, and we won’t return. Our first stay was better, and we were generally happy with the accessible room. We were met on arrival, asked what we wanted for breakfast, and shown how the TV worked. I’d just finished a four-hour drive and wasn’t clear about what I wanted to order, which caused a misunderstanding later: breakfast came with several items I hadn’t requested. We were also charged for some coffee, which felt petty. The room was easy to access and had a washing machine and fridge, both of which we appreciated. We asked for a flat sheet, and it was brought promptly. There were French windows to the garden, but getting out meant stepping down, and the patio was a little slippery. The garden was still worth visiting. The sofa looked worn and faced the wall, and the other seats weren’t comfortable for sitting for long. The double bed was comfortable, though it seemed to have a feather duvet. We preferred the counterpane over our sheet. We know what to ask for next time to help things go more smoothly.

Peter and Oliver made my one-night stop truly memorable. They were warm, wonderfully hospitable and delightfully informal, and I was charmed by them and their interesting back story. I was travelling from London to Cornwall and was pleased to find a green-powered inn along the way. I’d expected a simple, comfortable single room and breakfast the next morning for a small fee. The room was clean and comfortable, and Peter made me a delicious Spanish-inspired breakfast. A lovely stay.

A great-value place, and a nice escape from downtown London. The rooms were clean, the service was great, and the staff were friendly and helpful.

We’ve just returned from a two-night stay while my husband had something planned at blackbushe airport. The location was amazing, quiet and peaceful, and the staff were friendly. It felt like a home away from home. Our self-catered apartment was great and had everything we needed. We’re definitely planning to return and would recommend it to friends and family.

Edit: If you’re staying with an EV, avoid this place. The owner has called my review unfair, but the corridors really did smell of urine, and I left early because I couldn’t charge my car. There were two charging spots, but a non-electric car was parked in one. I’d agreed the charger would be free early in the morning, but plans changed and it wasn’t available when they’d said it would be. Why not ask non-electric cars not to park there? The staff were friendly when I arrived around 8pm, and called to check I was still coming after my journey of over four hours to visit family. They offered breakfast choices, and I could get into the room when I returned at 11pm after a meal with family nearby. The room and bathroom were clean and stocked with toiletries, and I slept comfortably. Thankfully, the room itself didn’t smell, though the corridors up to it smelled strongly of pet urine. I asked to use the EV charger when I arrived, but someone had parked their 90’s jaguar in front of it. Staff said the owner would leave early in the morning, but seemed to make no effort to ask them to move the car. When I checked out at 8am, the charger was still blocked, leaving me with a nearly flat battery. I had to find other EV chargers locally after going out of my way to book a hotel with car charging. It was especially annoying that the car in the spot wasn’t electric or charging.
