The restaurant was a real highlight for us. Every meal was delicious, with quality ingredients and lovely presentation, and the staff were professional but still very friendly. Back at the hotel, we found the rooms spacious, comfortable, spotless and thoughtfully designed. The place is beautiful, clean and cosy, with an atmosphere that made us feel at home right away. The authentic fireplace made the stay feel especially warm and distinctive, and an evening beside it was unforgettable. We'd love to return and would recommend it to anyone after comfort, quality and a memorable atmosphere.

We had an amazing birthday party in the Cocktail Lounge this weekend. The venue looked gorgeous and the sound system was brilliant. Rob behind the bar did a fab job making whatever people asked for, including a special non-alcoholic drink for me. Kitty took care of the cake, sauce in jugs, plates and forks as if it were no trouble. I'd recommend the Southern Belle to anyone looking for a venue.

For my conference trip to Brighton, The Southern Belle was ideally placed. The rooms were lovely, and the bar and food downstairs were excellent. Wendy looked after us so well. The bar had a relaxed, friendly feel, with local people enjoying it too. Wednesday night was a real treat, with quite a few musicians gathering to play lovely folk music.

I waited at the bar for more than 20 minutes while they served other people, some of whom walked up and were helped straight away. I was standing right in front and still got no service. I wanted a quick drink before an event at 4pm, but the boy with long hair and the girl were busy chatting and serving whoever they seemed to prefer. I've worked in several bars, and that kind of service wouldn't be tolerated. It was infuriating and completely ruined my afternoon. I'm never coming back.

A cosy, lovely pub and restaurant that's very welcoming to dogs. Service was quick and friendly, the roast was excellent, and it was good value compared with similar places nearby.
