The staff were friendly and helpful, and I slept well despite being next to the lift shaft. It made a loud vibrating noise whenever the lift was used, and my room had only a tiny window high on the wall. Still, the bed was comfortable and the room warm. The toiletries and tea tray items were good quality, though watch the snack prices. For a traditional full English, you'll need to go elsewhere. I went round to Wetherspoons.

I was disappointed with my recent stay at Stay Hotel. Right from arrival, the reception staff came across as rude and unfriendly.

We went for one night for my husband's 30th birthday, and the staff made it feel special with balloons and banners in the room. They were lovely and very polite. The suite was beautiful throughout, and both the shower and bath were great. I'd stay here again.

There’s potential here, but the stay was a real mix. The room had nice decor and a fan, and the evening receptionist was kind enough to help with the shower. It was pleasant, even though it was coming loose from the wall. At breakfast, the woman made me a nice coffee and I got the last eggs for my eggs on toast, though there was no butter. The orange juice was warm and the continental options weren't good. One man actually walked out because the kitchen had run out of things like eggs and butter. Breakfast service was awkward. The man I assume was the chef seemed rude and could use some customer service training. He and the woman working with him didn't seem keen to be there and often didn't acknowledge people, so you had to make an effort to get served. The man was in tracksuit bottoms and Nike trainers, which some customers may not find appropriate for front of house. One exchange I heard was a customer asking for an egg, being told they could have one, then asking for two and being told they only had one. It was one of several uncomfortable conversations I saw. There were problems in the room too: stains on the sheets and floor, flat and uncomfortable pillows, and a boiler or something nearby making loud noises about every 30 minutes. I slept badly. I couldn't find fire exits on my floor, and they weren't clearly marked. They also take a £50 deposit on arrival, and I'm not sure when you get it back. Hopefully the hotel can improve, because I can see the potential.

I was here for work and left disappointed. The hotel has an Indian theme, obvious in the decor, which I found awful, and the pillows were both uncomfortable and lacking. Breakfast was horrendous, though I don't blame the young lad who made it. The owner is responsible for sourcing such awful meat. Calling turkey bacon and chicken sausages a traditional breakfast is a complete joke. Avoid at all costs.
