Inverness Hostel

The area was quiet, clean, and safe, and the city centre was an easy 25-minute walk for me. The kitchen had a fridge and a few appliances, and the rooms were fairly clean. Other than that, the place only partly worked out for me. There was a problem with my keys when I arrived. I called and got an immediate response, but then had to switch rooms the next day. That was a bit of a nuisance, but manageable. A leak in another room's shower meant I had to share my bathroom, which wasn't pleasant. The WiFi that was advertised wasn't there, so I had to use my data for maps, looking things up, and contacting friends. I messaged the manager about it and got no reply. One night the heating was off. The manager didn't answer my call, but I left a voicemail and it was working again the following day. The kitchen cloths weren't changed during my five nights, and no extra toilet paper was provided, even with the shared bathroom. The rest was as described, so I have no complaints about those things.

Spotlessly clean, and our room was huge with its own bathroom. The kitchen was shared. Recommended.

The kitchen needed a deep clean before we could use anything for dinner that first night or breakfast the next mornings. The floors and surfaces were sticky, the fridge smelled, and there were no fresh sponges, dishcloths, or clean drying towels. I couldn't find a coffee machine, just a few kettles. Outside, parking was okay, but the so-called garden and shed were dumps, full of discarded furniture, bits of lumber, and litter. There was nowhere suitable for children to play. Inside, you could hear every other guest and even the house around us. The beds and floors were noisy too. The shower head was clogged and sprayed in all directions without working well in any of them. There wasn't enough toilet paper, and each person got just one towel that smelled old and moldy. I found a penny under the drawer cabinet, which gave me the impression that proper cleaning wasn't a priority. Can't recommend it at all.

I can't recommend this place. The householder was very rude. The website said WiFi was available, but there wasn't any when we arrived, and the poor signal really affected our mood during the trip. There also wasn't enough hot water, and the shower went completely cold halfway through.
