Muthu Belstead Brook Hotel

We had a really nice anniversary night here. Before check-in, my wife and I had a couples massage, one of the most relaxing either of us has ever had. Both therapists were polite and professional, and reception looked after our luggage while we had our treatments. After checking in, we used the pool, jacuzzi and sauna. The steam room was out of use, but the changing area was clean and towels were provided. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable, with a large shower and good temperature. Breakfast was good, with full English and continental options, and you could help yourself to as much as you wanted.

Breakfast was spot on, with plenty of choice and good quality ingredients. There were plenty of polite staff around. At checkout, we mentioned the room problems and were told all rooms are being renovated, though it takes time and money, which we understand. Staff were polite and helpful, so it was okay for one night. We stayed for a wedding. Our room was musty and not very clean, the radiators didn't work, and the mattress seemed to be on its way out. When we returned late after the wedding, it was really cold. Staff quickly offered us an extra duvet and a fan heater. We gave the room three stars for those reasons, though it did have more or less everything we needed.

The restaurant was the real hit. The food was amazing, and we really enjoyed it. The bar menu was great value too. We booked a night as a surprise for our mum and were so impressed by how kind and helpful the staff were, always ready to do what they could. Our junior suite was massive, very clean, and had a little French door looking out onto gardens. The spa facilities were excellent, with a great temperature and a really relaxing feel. The hotel might seem a bit dated, but I think that adds character. We had the best time and will definitely be back. Thank you 😊

We had a tasty three course evening meal, and the food was amazing. The waitresses were lovely, though they didn't know which soup or crumble was available. It'd help if that information were on a board they could check easily when customers ask. The room was pretty and comfortable, but the Wi-Fi was advertised throughout and couldn't reach our room. The TV service was poor too, with hardly any channels getting a signal, and the older TV meant you couldn't boost anything off it. The bottled water in the room tasted like tap water, not filtered as the label said, and the lid was loose.
