Craglands Guest House

The room was tidy and clean, and Eldon was a really friendly host. The guest house is in a good location, and we had a great stay with my friend. Don’t miss one of Eldon’s breakfasts, they’re generous and tasty, especially the sausage. We’d stay again.

The rooms and house were clean, and breakfast was really nice. It’s about a 15 mins walk into Keswick centre. The host likes things done a certain way, but it works. I’d stay again.

We arrived at 9 p.m. and found nobody at the entrance. The person in charge came quite late and offered no explanation or even basic information about how the place worked. We had to keep asking important questions about our stay. Instead of answering, he said, “Sorry, you are demanding too much, and this is not a hotel.” He then asked us to return the key. Even if it isn’t a traditional hotel, I expect basic professionalism, respect and human decency. This was one of the worst experiences I’ve had, and truly disappointing. We relied on the positive reviews, but I can’t understand how anyone could give it five stars. I’d tell people not to be misled by those reviews. The experience was terrible.

The breakfast was excellent, with a great range of choices, and our room was very good too. It was really clean, with tea and coffee supplies replenished every day, though the towels weren’t changed. We stayed three nights over the Easter Weekend. The hallway looked dated when we first came in, but that was the only other drawback besides the parking. Reversing up the drive meant backing in from a very busy main road. We would stay again.
