Remy was so helpful and even gave us a hug as we left. Laura was lovely too, with a smile for everyone. We hope to see them all again soon. We’d just come back from a lovely 4-night stay as part of a coach party, using the hotel as our base. Our spacious room had fresh, clean bedding, plenty of wardrobe space and a shower over the bath, and we slept well. Staff welcomed us with lots of smiles. The buffet breakfasts filled us up for the day, and the evening meals were good. The soup starters were especially good, and we enjoyed some of the puddings too. There was even a piper on Saturday night, which made the stay feel more Scottish.

The price was very competitive, and the whole experience was excellent. It’s well placed for exploring nearby points of interest, the breakfast was very good, and everyone made us feel welcome. A nice hotel for a great stay.

The bar closing at 10pm is a shame. Although the hotel was clean, it was uncomfortably hot throughout, even in the dining room, and it needs some renovations. The staff were all very friendly and helpful.

The bar lunch was fine, but the food didn’t make much of an impression. Service was efficient, though a bit brusque. It’s a fabulous building with faded grandeur and plenty of possibilities, but it clearly needs TLC and a new direction for changing times.
