The rural setting was just what I’d hoped for, and it made a great base for the places I wanted to visit on holiday. The room was very nice and we had a happy stay. I didn’t meet any staff, as the key was in a lockbox. There was a fridge for my milk, cereal, and the basics for a continental breakfast. I brought extras like bananas myself, and we could eat in the dining room or make simple food in the kitchen.

We had a lovely, quiet couple of nights in a clean place, and it was a great way to begin our holiday. Do make time for the Wee Bear Café. Thanks for everything, Gareth. Hope we meet again soon. Dagmar & Jens

The Wee bear Cafe was a highlight on our second visit to Lodge on the Lochside. Lunch was excellent, with fresh, locally grown ingredients and a few unusual touches. The service was lovely, and the coffee came piping hot. They bake all the sandwich bread, focaccia and other breads in-house, along with a huge range of cakes. Our room was pretty, with a double bed, sofa and a tea and coffee tray. It even had ground coffee and a cafetière. The bathroom was small, but the shower felt very swanky, with lots of spray settings and a rain shower. There’s a big shared lounge and a fully equipped kitchenette too. Breakfast basics are provided free in the kitchen: bread, butter, jam, fresh juices, yoghurts, milk and four kinds of cereal. We enjoyed meeting other people there. We’d stayed once before, and this visit was even better. We’ll definitely come back.

The surroundings are stunning, and the location, room and food were all excellent. A very comfortable stay, with lots of thoughtful touches to make guests feel at ease. Highly recommend.

We really enjoyed our stay. The rooms were clean, the pillows super comfortable, and for the price it honestly felt like a bargain. It was handy having the kitchenette, and the shared space was kept in good shape. I loved finding an aero press in the room, the best coffee I’ve had in a hotel or B&B. This time we were without our dog, but we hope to come back with them. We also ate at the cafe and thought the food was great.
