Lancaster House Hotel

The outdoor jacuzzi and pool were the best part, especially under the stars. I didn’t use the gym, but it looked like a standard hotel setup, with the essentials and nothing fancy. The bedroom was comfortable, with plush bedding and a sizeable bed. The bathroom felt a bit dated, though the lighting was great for hair or makeup. We stayed at Lancaster House Hotel on the way to Scafell Pike. It’s not as close as you might think, and the morning drive to Scafell took about 1.5-2 hours. I’d recommend it as a treat after the hike rather than a base beforehand. The hotel felt lovely and welcoming, with a warm, homely reception area and a late-night bar with comfy lounges and board games. Great wine and beer selection. It’s dog-friendly, so if you’re not keen on dogs or are wary of muddy paws after hikes, keeping your shoes on in communal areas is a good idea. A comfortable place to reward yourself after tackling Scafell Pike.

The evening pianist played some nice songs, and the open fire added a cosy feel. There were games on the bookshelf too, a nice touch. We had a lovely family weekend, with friendly staff, a good breakfast, and wonderful evening meals. The rooms were cosy and the bed was comfy. Great spa and pool facilities.

The pool, jacuzzi, and sauna were lovely, clean, and relaxing. The hotel itself was beautiful and the rooms were clean. The food was lovely, and the staff were smartly dressed, which added to the dining experience. Everyone throughout the hotel was helpful. I’d stay here again when we visit Lancaster.

The staff were friendly, though I don’t blame them for the room issues. There were dead moths and insects all around the room, even in our tea mugs, and it was extremely dusty. I have a dust allergy, so that made the stay unpleasant. The rooms were very dated, though some people might find that charming. I wouldn’t call this a four-star hotel.
