The hotel is stylish and central, with a small car park that connects to Leeds station, though parking is difficult and costs £18 a day. The rooms are renovated, clean, modern, comfortable, and well maintained, but small. The landings and walkways are spacious and smell clean, except near the lifts, where there's a damp, sauna-like smell. Reception blends into the bar and breakfast restaurant, and service was OK. Reception tried to quietly charge us for parking without telling us the correct price, so we declined. Later, after a spa day out, we ordered drinks at the bar. My partner ate a piece of pineapple from a fruit salad pot we'd bought on the way to the hotel, and the restaurant manager told us we couldn't eat it there. It felt petty, especially as the next table was classed as reception. The coffees cost £8, and we were hotel guests. We decided to eat elsewhere. Breakfast the next day was well organised and clean, and we enjoyed the high-quality, nicely presented food. The staff were pleasant and helpful, though the machine coffee wasn't great. I'd stay again.

My room felt a bit cold at times, which took a little away from the comfort. The food was a real highlight, impressive in both quality and range, and the staff were welcoming and attentive throughout. The location made it easy to get around and was close to everything I needed. I had a lovely stay and would be glad to come back.

We had a lovely weekend stay: the rooms were nice, the bathrooms modern and the beds comfortable. Staff kindly looked after our luggage before check-in and after checkout, and they were polite. Breakfast was lovely too, and we'd stay again. The location was lovely. We could still hear trains rumbling from the 11th floor, though that's no fault of the hotel, so bear that in mind. Guests also slam their doors. And despite the hotel saying it had fixed the sewage smell mentioned in older reviews, it was still awful when we walked in and was there at 11am that morning.

The lifts caused a lot of frustration for me and the others in my group. There are only two in the whole building, they're very slow and seem to do what they want, and the room-card controls are temperamental. Taking the stairs wasn't feasible for us. I was there for a work event, and otherwise found the hotel clean, welcoming and friendly. Staff stayed attentive despite being busy, and the food selection was varied. Vegetarian and vegan labels and allergen information could be much clearer. The car park is very tight, though the website makes that clear, and my Fiat 500 just about fit.

The reception looks nice and breakfast was good, but the rooms need a full refurbishment. My first room was filthy, with a tobacco pouch on the floor, so I moved. The windows in the second room wouldn't shut. Being right by the train station meant I heard trains at all hours, along with the station announcements. If you want to sleep, go elsewhere.
