DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Leeds City Centre

I’d pick this over the regular Hilton and plan to stay again. The location is good and the views are lovely. I had no noise problems, despite some other reviews mentioning it. The front desk team were friendly and efficient. I also appreciated a two-hour late checkout and two bar drink vouchers. No room upgrade, but I booked at 10pm and checked in straight away, so that was fine. The room was clean and well appointed, with a useful extra HDMI connection. Its design felt more modern than the Leeds Hilton, though the bathroom was much more basic. The TV didn’t have smart features, unlike the one there. Breakfast was better than average for UK Hiltons, with interesting extras like Baby-bells and a great pastry selection. The gym was basic but fine for a quick pump. I’d been looking forward to the Sky Bar, but thought its 5pm opening was quite late. The price is fantastic when the hotel isn’t fully booked.

The breakfast was the best we’ve had at a hotel, and being able to order eggs Benedict from the menu was a bonus. All the staff were friendly and helpful, and the room had everything we needed. We spent one night at the Hilton for a gig at the First Direct arena. It’s in a great location with lovely views over the canal boats. We’d definitely stay again.

I always have a fabulous time at the hilton. The beds are comfortable, the rooms are always clean, the bathroom is lovely and the shower pressure is fabulous. Room service is there if needed, and the staff are amazing. I mentioned to the parking staff outside that I needed a disabled bay and had a badge. She immediately offered to help with my bag so I could get into the hotel. My work had a private event in the beautiful restaurant downstairs. Couldn’t recommend it more.

The Sky Bar was a real highlight, with great cocktails and brilliant views of the Leeds skyline from its outdoor area. The hotel’s right by the train station, handy for a one-night stop, and a short walk from the city centre. Elland Road is a manageable 40-minute walk away. The receptionist was lovely and welcoming, and the warm cookie at check-in was a nice touch. My standard queen room wasn’t large, but it was comfortable. I heard some trains, though it wasn’t a major issue and didn’t affect my sleep. I only ate breakfast at the restaurant, where the all-you-can-eat buffet was a good standard, as you’d expect from a Hilton.
