The Grand Hotel

We came over from the USA and had such a lovely stay. Lisa made a wonderful host, and the hotel has loads of charm. Mickey's food was out of this world, and the Vikings were fun too. Thanks for looking after us so well. We'll be back!

The staff were honestly the best part of our stay, so kind to us. We had two twin beds and a pretty cute view from the window, and the beds were fairly comfortable. The bathroom light took a while to come on, though, and there was barely any hot water from the sink; the shower pressure was low too. Breakfast ran around 6 to 10am and had plenty to choose from. The hotel pub had lots of options and reasonably priced drinks, and it was a nice place to sit. I liked the retro feel of the hotel. It's right in the middle of Lerwick and close to the bus stops, which made getting to other city sights easy. A lovely place to stay, and I'd recommend it. I'd rate my stay 8.5/10.

The breakfast was especially good, well cooked and served in generous portions. Our room was good too, with a great view over the harbour area. The staff were amazingly helpful, knew a lot about the area, and were happy to share local tips.

The room had a lovely view, a new bed and heater, and we appreciated the big towels and plenty of tea and coffee. Room servicing was excellent, and it seems they're refurbishing. Breakfast was a mixed bag: the chef was friendly and helpful, but the portions were large and there was too much toast. The other breakfast staff weren't attentive and couldn't order tea. Some parts of the hotel could use a coat of paint.
