Legacy Woodhall Spa

We used to come here a lot for coffee and hot chocolate, but the drinks were awful on this last visit. There was no chocolate taste in the hot chocolate, so we left it because it tasted like Horlicks. The cappuccino and latte tasted identical, with no coffee flavour, and the cappuccino didn’t have any froth at all. That’s appalling when the coffee is advertised as Stokes of Lincoln. We complained and got replacements, but they came back exactly the same. It’s a shame, as this was a convenient place to meet up. We won’t be returning.

We’ve been coming to the Inn for over eight years. We live locally, and it’s our regular place for restaurant meals and snacks. Every Monday, our small walking group stops in for coffee and refreshments after a walk. The food and drinks in the bar or restaurant are always great and good value, and staff check that everything’s all right. We know a lot of the team now, especially Lisa and Connor. They make it feel like home, remember our usual drinks before we ask, and never make any request feel like too much trouble. They work long hours and still greet us warmly at any time. I hope the management appreciates them. Sophie was there today and greeted us with a lovely smile too. I’d thought she was new because we hadn’t met before, but she isn’t. Sorry, Sophie! She already knows our drinks as well. It’s the small things that matter, and a smile and a warm welcome are priceless.

The chicken salad was OK, and there were some gluten-free choices, but nobody offered gluten-free bread. We ate inside, where the decor felt tired: tatty, dated and stark, with no personality or cosy, welcoming feel despite the lovely-looking building. The staff didn’t seem to care, and weren’t smiling or chatting with customers. The food was just OK too. It’s an acceptable place, but not the best in the area.

Good food, a nice range of drinks and excellent service. It’s centrally located in the village and has parking. A great place.
