The Hawkley Inn

The four of us had a lovely time at the Hawkley Inn, and the drinks were lovely too. We skipped starters, though after waiting over an hour for our mains, we wished we’d ordered some. The food was really good once it arrived, and we all enjoyed it. Highly recommended 👌

A lovely traditional country pub for locals and visitors alike. We stopped in for a light lunch while out walking. The staff made us feel very welcome, and the food was excellent quality for a very reasonable price.

We stayed after a wedding reception and managed to get an Uber from Liphook at around midnight, even though the inn is a bit out of the way. The owners were lovely and made us feel very welcome. It’s a cosy little place, with a warm atmosphere, and breakfast was included and lovely. We’d definitely come back if we’re in the area again.

We used to come here often, but it had been about six months since our last visit. For a birthday meal on a fairly quiet Sunday, the service and food were a huge letdown. We were given the wrong menu twice, then waited ages just to order. The roast was alright, but nowhere near as good as it used to be. The food seems to have changed, maybe there’s a new chef, but the price is still the same. The cauliflower cheese, which has always been a side, arrived lukewarm ten minutes after the roast. We had to ask where it was. After ordering dessert, we waited half an hour before asking for an update. The manager came back to say the kitchen had run out of sticky toffee pudding. When we asked why it took 30 minutes to tell us, she said, “the kitchen don’t communicate to us”. Unbelievable. We weren’t charged for dessert, and did get a discount after asking for one to make up for the inconvenience. Awful pub. Avoid!
