The location was excellent and breakfast decent, but the room was unacceptable for what we paid. It was over £300 for two people for two nights. The couch had deep stains in all sorts of colours and sizes, plus visible damage, holes and scratches. It honestly looked as though someone had taken it straight off the street. There was hair and staining on the bed linen too. Reception only replaced it after I complained repeatedly, not after my first request. We weren’t offered either a lower price or another room. For that cost, the stay was very disappointing and I can’t recommend it.

The breakfast had a great range of hot food, cereals, fruit, yogurts, continental options, waffles, juices and hot drinks. It was included in the room price and was to a high standard, though the fresh apple and orange juice tasted quite weak. I’m sure staff could have found another cold drink from the bar or reception if I’d mentioned it. The room also works well for families visiting Liverpool overnight. We came without our children this time, but would happily bring our two 11-year-olds next visit. From the moment we arrived, the staff were welcoming and check-in was quick. The room matched its description, was cosy and immaculately clean, with a huge window to look out of. We hardly heard noise from outside, adjoining rooms or the corridors. We had a small room issue, which we mentioned at reception when leaving so it could be fixed for the next guest. We hadn’t asked for anything, as we’d been happy with our stay, but they surprised us with a refund. If we’d told them when we arrived, I think they would have moved us straight away. Joining the exclusive Hampton members club was free and let us extend checkout from 1100hrs to 1300hrs, which was a big help. We had a fantastic night away at the Hampton. Thanks for a lovely stay, and we look forward to returning.

The room and staff were both good: the smallest room category was still spacious, with a clean bathroom and shower, a firm but comfortable bed, soft pillows and a very good night’s sleep. The hotel was fairly clean, and the staff at the entrance were friendly, helpful and professional, with smart uniforms. There’s a small fitness room available for an extra charge. It had enough equipment for me as an amateur, though professionals might disagree. There was no Nespresso machine, but I didn’t mind. Breakfast was the reason I’m writing before checkout. This was my first stay at a Hampton hotel in Liverpool, but I know the brand from family visits to Gdańsk, Łódź and Radom, where breakfast was always excellent. I was looking forward to it. The hot English breakfast, children’s cereal, croissants and waffles all looked familiar at first, but what I found was a real letdown. The scrambled eggs were overcooked. There was no cheese, ham, cold meats or fresh salad, not even lettuce, tomatoes or cucumbers. The only vegetables were cooked tomatoes with pepper, and the only meat option instead of ham or cheese was very wet bacon. I tried the waffles next, expecting the usual Hampton standard. The waffle makers were the same as in other Hilton hotels around the world, but the mixture was clearly poor. After three minutes, mine was still undercooked inside, even though the outside was done. It stuck to the plates and fell apart before I finally got it onto my plate. Toppings were just as disappointing: no jam, fruit spread or honey, only sliced peaches, red fruit compote and natural yoghurt. None of it, including the waffle, had much taste. It felt like a waste. Breakfast matters to the Hampton by Hilton experience, and this really shouldn’t be hard to get right. The kitchen team could benefit from seeing how other Hampton hotels abroad serve it. I hope someone takes this feedback seriously. This should be as good an experience as at your other locations. It’s why I became a Hilton Honors member and keep coming back to Hilton hotels, but after this I’ll think twice before booking another Hampton by Hilton in Liverpool.

We had an accessible room because my wife needs a mobility scooter, and it suited our needs perfectly. Our dog Alfie came with us and was made very welcome too. We’d like to thank all the staff, especially Kort, who made our stay so pleasant. Nothing was too much trouble, and they fixed a couple of small issues right away. We’d recommend the hotel and would book here again if we visit Liverpool.

The room had a wide view over the dock, which was a lovely extra, and it was fantastic inside too. The bed, shower and toilets were all well maintained. The hotel is terrific for location, right opposite Albert Dock and Liverpool’s main attractions. Breakfast is free, though the morning crowd is a madhouse and the coffee machines weren’t refilled quickly enough, so we ran out towards the end. Great value for money when travelling with family, and I strongly recommend it.
