Phoenix Hotel Liverpool

The bed was comfortable, and the staff were friendly and helpful. I was visiting because the hotel is near both the city and Anfield, so the location suited me. I had a good stay overall and would probably come back, but a few fixes and a freshen-up are needed. The heater didn't work, the carpet hadn't been vacuumed and smelled unpleasant, and the tap had to be held in place to turn. There was no lid on the toilet seat or toilet brush, the walls were damp, and you could hear everything at night. Those things made me question the price.

We stayed overnight on 12th November and upgraded to a superior double. The room was spacious and otherwise great, but it needed more attention to detail, especially in the bathroom. The loo roll holder and bath panel were broken, the shower rail had come loose from the wall at the top, and the shower dripped constantly. There wasn't a bath mat to stand on afterward.

Great value for money, with good-sized rooms and large TVs. The place is quiet, the bar stays open late, and the staff are always willing to help. I'd highly recommend it and will definitely stay again when I'm in the area.

They cancelled my confirmed booking the day before I was due to arrive, leaving me scrambling for somewhere else at the last minute. When I tried to sort it out, the staff wouldn't put me through to a manager and gave me no proper explanation or support. This was completely unprofessional and showed no respect for customers. Cancelling with so little notice and refusing to escalate the problem is unacceptable. If you need reliable service, I'd strongly advise avoiding this place.
