Printworks Hotel

For £46 on a Friday, this was a bargain. My room was below ground and had no window, but it was compact and had what I needed for one night in Liverpool. Netflix on the TV was a nice extra. The bed was comfortable enough, though I found the pillows thin and cheap, and couldn't get properly comfortable. I'm fussy about pillows, to be fair. If you like a very dark, quiet room, you should sleep well here, but set an alarm or you could easily sleep past checkout because morning light won't wake you. Reception told me the same room would cost £160 the next night, 20 December. I don't know if I'd pay that for this particular room, given there are many Liverpool hotels with bigger rooms for less. Still, I was happy with the bargain I got that Friday.

With most of Liverpool city centre pedestrianised, the local sights are easy to get to on foot, often more easily than by taxi or public transport. The hotel is perfectly central, and my trip from Central Ireland to central Liverpool took less than four hours without any hassle.

The room was lovely and comfortable, with everything we needed. Ours was an internal room, so it was compact, but the wet room was spacious. The staff were friendly too. We'd be happy to stay here again on our next visit.

The location was terrible, and the old furniture smelled bad. There was no fridge in the room, and not enough soap or toilet paper. There weren't any tissues either, and the stairs carpet was smelly and very dirty. Staff were unprofessional, and the hidden policies weren't communicated when I booked through Booking. I couldn't stay, so I had to cancel and leave. I won't go there again.
