I've been coming back every year for the past eight years, and I'll definitely return again. This pub is so welcoming to everyone, which can be a relief for tourists in small rural pubs that sometimes feel daunting. The food is good, there's a nice selection of drinks, and the prices are lovely.

The Belle Vue might just be the best pub ever. If there were a pub Olympics, it'd win gold and buy everyone a celebratory pint. From the moment you walk in, you're made to feel like a legend coming home. The staff are incredibly friendly, and Lauren was the best bar staff we could've asked for. Drinks arrive quickly, there's always a laugh, and they somehow remember what you ordered when you've forgotten yourself. The drinks are poured perfectly, and the food is so good you'll be eyeing other people's plates even while enjoying your own. You might pop in for one and find yourself three hours later, attached to your bar stool. The atmosphere is lively without being chaotic, and cosy without feeling cramped. Great for families, friends, dates, or even that mate who claims not to like pubs but doesn't want to leave. I'd recommend The Belle Vue Pub to anyone visiting, and would happily lose track of time here again. Five stars, ten out of ten 🍻

We dropped in for food and a drink to start our holiday. My wife chose the fish, which had lovely crisp batter and beautifully steamed fish inside. Some places fry it at too low a temperature and it turns greasy, but that wasn't the case here. I had the lasagne, with a good balance of meat and sauce, plus nice crispy chips. Fantastic.

It's a beautiful little town, and I have family members buried nearby, so I always try to visit when I can. On a recent overnight stay, I found the owner or manager very approachable, and I believe he did the cooking too. The room, staff and food are all recommendable.

The village is charming, but this wasn't a great stay. I arrived around 6 pm and there was no parking available, so with little luggage I left the car on the street. Inside, there was a musty smell and nobody at the counter. The waitress eventually came over after a long wait, as she was serving food and other customers by herself. I understood, but it was still frustrating to wait so long to speak to her. She was kind and helpful when she showed me the room. I paid only £55 for the night, but the rooms had clearly seen better days. The smell and condition of the carpet around the pub were honestly quite disgusting. At least the bed sheets were clean.
