The hot tub was a nice bonus, and they even provide a dressing gown to use with it. I found the place good value through the 5pm deals. The accommodation is basic but clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful, really giving 100%. A very good midweek break.

We stopped here during a cycle tour, three of us sharing a double and a twin room. The building's a little tired, but the rooms were clean and worked fine for us. The shower was good, though it needed to be screwed back into the wall. We had dinner and breakfast, and there was a secure place to keep our bikes.

The housekeeper and waiting staff were friendly and helpful, but the receptionist and manager weren't as welcoming. My client arrived earlier than planned, and although an early check-in wasn't possible, nobody offered a friendly greeting or a wait in the bar. She was simply told to come back at 3pm, which wasn't a good start. Her room was tiny and arranged so badly that the bathroom door wouldn't open. There was no hot water in the bathroom, even after letting it run for more than ten minutes. By the time she got into the room, it felt as tired as she did, and the car park view didn't help. The front view was beautiful if you overlooked the fake grass in the advertised “garden”. The view at the back was best left unmentioned. It's a shame, because the building and location are lovely, and the hotel could be much better with some care and attention.

The view is amazing, and the waiter was friendly and helpful. My plant based burger was nicely presented, but it was just a basic vegetable patty and didn't feel worth the price. The chips tasted as if they might not have cooked properly from frozen. I can't speak for all the non vegans I was with.
