Best Western Swiss Cottage Hotel

The room was spacious and very nice, and the hotel was quiet. Swiss Cottage station is extremely close, putting much of the city just minutes away. Reception staff were great, helpful, understanding, and accommodating. Well done, keep it up!

We had to stay near West Hampstead to drop my child off at school, and being stuck here for 11 nonrefundable days was miserable. After our international flight, seeing the room was really upsetting, and I wish we'd had the option to switch hotels on the first night. It ruined the trip. The lobby looks decent, but the room was awful. We were put in the basement and found mildew along the baseboards, ripped carpet, hardly any outlets, and a heater that barely worked. The rooms were noisy, too. The beds were probably worst of all: on top of the time change, we got the worst sleep of our lives. The blanket was a tiny, paper-thin sheet, and the extra blankets we had were dirty and thin. The online photos are completely misleading. I'm not sure why this place has such high reviews.

The old English look is part of the appeal here. The furniture and style are iconic, and I'd like the hotel to keep them. Age isn't a problem when maintenance is excellent and everything is perfectly clean, as it was for us, except the carpet could use wet cleaning more often. Carpets everywhere are still typical for this kind of hotel, though. Everyone provided excellent service, and we had a lovely time. We'll definitely come back. Normally I'd give this hotel three stars or a low four, but those things earned it five.

We stayed one night last summer, my first time on London's north side. It's a quiet, pleasant area with some nice pub restaurants close by for dinner, and the staff were very helpful. Swiss Cottage Underground is a short walk away, as are Primrose Hill and Regent's Park. Good value by London hotel standards. I'd recommend it.
