The owners and staff at Central Hoxton are Turkish and really friendly, which made us feel comfortable right away. They communicated well and were always ready to help. It’s also very handy for public transport. A pleasant stay, and a place I’d recommend.

Room 11 was oddly tucked behind reception, right beside the shared microwave, so I could hear it and people chatting while I was trying to sleep. The shower was a pain too, it overflowed and flooded the whole bathroom floor. Still, the location was amazing, the staff were lovely, and the place was clean and somewhat cozy.

I won’t be coming back. I emailed twice before arriving and got no reply, and the night staff seemed to know nothing. The receptionist was shockingly incompetent. The TV didn’t work and there was no housekeeping. The bathroom had paint stains everywhere, an eyelash stuck to the door, and a dirty shower. Even the safety instructions on the door had been put on upside down. This level of service is unacceptable.

The hotel felt comfortable and secure, with someone at the desk around the clock. It’s very close to Hoxton Hall, and there’s a good choice of nearby restaurants. Rooms have ensuite showers. Some have no windows, though that didn’t make much difference, and the air conditioning is good.

The price is very reasonable for a central London stay, and the location is excellent, right in Hoxton, with great Vietnamese restaurants close by and a PureGym around the corner. There were some trade-offs, though. I kept tripping over a random step in the awkward room layout. The décor felt cheap and dated, the bed was too soft for me, and the windows didn’t insulate well. The thin mesh curtains didn’t close properly or block much light. The shower tray overflowed on both days, even after I reported it the first day. Staff were rarely around, and when they were, they didn’t smile or offer much help. It felt more like silent guards than hosts.
