Clean, comfortable rooms and friendly, welcoming staff make this a good no-frills budget hotel. It's right beside the British Museum, with plenty of cafes nearby to cover breakfast since the hotel doesn't serve it. We'd definitely come back, but would ask for an upper-floor room instead of one on the ground floor.

The shower pressure on the top floor turned out to be much better than I expected, and the bed was comfortable, so we slept well. The room was small but had what you'd need. A few minor things kept it from five stars: there was no sink plug, and some of the room decor was damaged. They didn't really affect the stay, but they're still there. It's a handy hotel for the West End, and I'd stay again.

The area was perfect for our one-night theatre trip with my daughter, but I wouldn't recommend the hotel. The entrance door was awful, reception was tiny, and the carpet by the lifts was disgusting. One lift was out of order too. Our room was clean but cold, the bathroom had no radiator, and the shower was awful.

The Cheshire hotel feels like guest comfort comes second to profit. We got rashes from the cheap mattresses, and they charge £5 to look after your luggage after 1pm. Add the bare bulbs and half-finished renovations, and it seems like every detail has been skimped on. Avoid.

I booked this through work from its recommended hotel list, for a single room with breakfast included. The room was cramped and tiny, the TV didn't work, and although the shower was okay, I'm tall enough that my head was above the shower head. Breakfast wasn't included or even offered. The hallways and stairs were so scuffed and had so many bits missing that they looked like they might be under renovation, though they weren't. It looked like it could be nice from outside, but my stay was very disappointing.
