Connaught House Hotel London ExCeL

About £28 for two pints and nachos, and the server was one of the most miserable, uninterested people I've come across in ages. There were no napkins or cutlery. I had to take some from another table because I couldn't get anyone to serve me again. The nachos cost £15 and were greasy. Seriously?

The bar has a nice atmosphere, with indoor and outdoor seating, and the food was good. Staff were helpful, and being so close to ExCeL is handy if you're attending an event. My room was spacious and clean, too. The shower was a letdown. It looked as though it was cleaned quickly and only on the surface, since there was what seemed to be old dirt and black mold in spots. I know some areas can be hard to reach, but a well-designed shower shouldn't be like that. I think it needs urgent renovation. In this state, it shouldn't be offered to guests, and it could even be a health hazard. I can't recommend the hotel until the issue is fixed.

Really lovely, spacious, clean rooms. Having tea and coffee making facilities and an ironing board in the room makes it especially convenient for business trips. The staff are welcoming and accommodating, and the service was excellent. Special thanks to Poli, Sobhie and Nathan. I'd happily recommend it 10/10.

Dinner was great, and room service came with no extra charge. Breakfast was reasonably priced and satisfying, so I'd consider staying again if work takes me back to the area. The room was comfortable, though it smelled a little musty, and I had to ask for a towel because there weren't any in the shower room. The hotel itself was very nice for its location, and the staff were friendly and helpful, but it seemed more set up as a pub and restaurant than a hotel. I had to call reception three times because everyone was working at the bar. There's no lift, and most rooms are upstairs, so it may be difficult if you have mobility issues or a lot of luggage.
