The room had a full kitchen, which was really useful, and the bed was comfortable enough that we slept well. It was clean and recently decorated. The bathroom felt a bit cramped but was fine. For transport, Surrey Quays overground is a few minutes away on foot, and the number 1 bus stops just outside. There’s also a 24-hour Costcutter right on the doorstep.

Getting to the centre takes a while, although there’s a bus stop right in front of the hotel that helps. The bigger problem was check-in: after travelling all the way there, we found the room wasn’t ready. The receptionist offered no explanation or solution, which made the whole thing feel even more frustrating and unprofessional. With the poor handling and lack of customer service, I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

The welcome was lovely, and communication before we arrived was great. I stayed with my little girl, and our room was clean and spacious. It was a bit farther out than I’d expected, but once we found Surrey Quay station, about a 10-minute walk away, getting around was easy. There’s a shop on the same street with everything we needed. We were advised not to be out around there late at night, but after a day of sightseeing and activities, that wasn’t an issue with a tired 9-year-old. We’ll definitely book again.

We had a pleasant stay. The room was quiet, with no road noise, probably thanks to the well-insulated windows. The heating worked fine, and the internet connection was good. We liked the very high ceiling, with mouldings and hidden lights. The location suited us since we wanted to be near some friends, and it was easy to get into the city centre.
