Plaza London Hotel

I would give this place minus five if I could. Calling it a hotel feels like a stretch, it looks more like a hostel. There was a serious sewage smell in both rooms, and the whole place reeked of cigarette smoke. Electrical wiring was exposed, with sockets hanging off the walls. The receptionist and manager were both rude and completely unhelpful. Save yourself the trouble and avoid this property. Health and safety and hygiene agencies should investigate it.

The room let the stay down. It had an odd smell, the bathroom was worn, there was lots of rust, and the towels were stained. On the plus side, the staff were friendly and helpful, and the location was good, with plenty of shops nearby and the tube about an eight-minute walk away.

Really clean hotel, and the staff were so helpful and understanding. I can’t thank them enough for all their support and kindness. Bon on reception is a beautiful lady, and Maria is my favourite girl there. There’s another woman whose name I don’t know, and she’s excellent at what she does. I couldn’t fault the place.

The location was handy for us, with a tube station a short walk away and plenty of takeaways, cafés, and shops nearby. The area looked a bit rough in places, but people were friendly and we had no trouble with the locals. Hotel staff were friendly and accommodating too. Our three-night stay had some real problems, though. The double room was so small we could barely move or unpack, and there was a broken light bulb, so lighting was limited. It looked clean at first, but after we dropped some money and reached under the bed, we found things left by previous guests. The bed was uncomfortable and the headboard was broken. We had to ask for a clean towel on day two because ours hadn’t been replaced. There was only a kettle in the room, with no cups or tea and coffee. A kitchen downstairs was available, but it was shared and offered no privacy. We had a great time in London and the location worked well, but we wouldn’t stay here again. It might suit someone on their own who only needs somewhere to sleep for a night or two.
