Royal Park Hotel

For the price, I've no complaints. The staff were polite, helpful, and took good care of me, which made the stay better. One night, late arrivals among the guests made a lot of noise. I don't blame the hotel for that, but to earn five stars from me, they'd need a way to help all guests get a good night's sleep. Thanks for the stay, and hopefully I can get a discount next time :)

The room and bathroom were clean, and the bed was comfortable, though the pillows weren't good. Ours was on the first floor facing the front. It was small, which was fine, but had no room window. There was a bathroom window, partly blocked by the sink, and it only opened a little for ventilation, so it didn't feel much different from a room with no window. Being a wooden building, it was easy to hear footsteps and noise from next door. There was shampoo and shower gel, but nowhere to put them inside the shower. A small shelf would help. The bathroom light and fan only worked while the main room light was on, so at night you had to turn on the room light even to shower. There was no bedside light for reading either. Tea, coffee, sugar, cups, and a kettle were available in the room and at reception. At 7 a.m. the fire alarm woke us, and there was no apology or compensation.

The room was so tiny we could barely move around, and it didn't have a window. The mattress had a huge dip in it, with a metal part sticking into my back. I can usually sleep anywhere, but this one was impossible.

The biggest hassle came after checkout. My colleagues and I asked for printed invoices using our employer's address, said all three should have the same one, and wrote it down for the receptionist. She printed them incorrectly, shredded them, then said she'd email corrected copies that day. Four days passed with no email. After I followed up, she sent three invoices with different, wrong addresses. I contacted her again, but the addresses were still wrong, and mine even had the wrong employer name. It took several more exchanges and four days from the original request to get the correct invoices. The rooms and basic facilities were disappointing too. My room hadn't been cleaned properly, with greasy marks on the mirror. The shower was tiny and had only a flimsy curtain, so water flooded the bathroom whenever I used it. Toilet flushing elsewhere in the hotel was loud enough to hear in my room, and on the last night, noise outside kept me from sleeping. We asked reception for device adapters. One didn't work, and the other had the same plug type as the hotel's sockets, so it was useless. My colleagues had problems in their rooms as well. One was first offered a room with a large circular stain, about 70 cm across, on the mattress that looked unmistakably like urine. When he reported it, the receptionist refused to change the room or even acknowledge the stain. After several calls to the manager, he was moved, but the replacement was only slightly cleaner. My other colleague's room was so cramped that the bathroom door hit the bed and couldn't open or close fully. The bathroom was visibly worn and damaged, and the whole room felt run down. The location may be convenient for business, but this was a poor stay. With dirty rooms, uncomfortable and cramped conditions, noise, useless adapters, and so much confusion over the invoices, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone needing a clean, quiet place to rest after work.
