The Ampersand Hotel

I’m here on business, and this location is ideal for getting around, with transit, restaurants, bakeries, banks, flower shops, interesting people, beautiful buildings, and lovely streets all nearby. I was worried it might be too far out, but it’s close to everything. The room is spotless and peaceful, with a nice view and thoughtful touches, including a Marshall amplifier for a speaker in the bedroom. I also love the bathroom products from Mallon + Goetz, the tea selection, hot water dispenser, and teapot. As a big tea drinker, that’s perfect. The artwork, books, and photography on the walls make me happy as a musician and creative person. I’m really delighted to be here, and it already feels like this stay is going to be shockingly amazing. The vibe, service, cleanliness, and little details have all been lovely. I have higher expectations when I travel solo, but this place is probably great for a couple too.

The staff made our double birthday treat feel special, celebrating it with real enthusiasm. We went for the science afternoon tea and were so glad we did. There was plenty of amazing food, including some really creative touches. My teenage son chose the adult version, but they still brought him the fun kids' activities, like making lemonade, which he loved. Everyone was enthusiastic and took time to explain each part. A fantastic experience.

The location is brilliant, with lots to do nearby and easy connections across the city. There’s a tube station practically next door, plus bus stops and a taxi rank outside. The staff are what really make the hotel, though. They were all friendly and helpful, and when a personal situation meant I had to extend my stay, they were incredibly supportive and kept asking how things were going. I’ll definitely be back.

I thought this might feel too far from things, but it turned out to be the ideal base. It’s in a lovely local residential area, away from the crowds, with an easy tube ride to attractions and a direct line from LHR. The neighborhood has great coffee and food and is beautiful to walk around. The hotel was spotless and quiet. Housekeeping was discreet and efficient, the room stayed immaculate, the bed and linens were comfortable, and the shower had good pressure and hot water. We slept really well. Staff checked in regularly to ask how we were doing and offer help. After seeing other parts of London and other hotels, I can’t imagine staying anywhere else. We’ll use this hotel again and again.
