The location felt safe. I was comfortable walking back alone around 9pm and heading out for breakfast before 7am, and the 24/7 reception made arrivals and departures convenient. It’s also very handy for Kings Cross St Pancras. For the low price, I expected worse, but the compromises were all things I didn’t mind. My room was clean, comfortable, and bigger than many budget-chain rooms. It wasn’t modern, but had a charm that reminded me of childhood holidays. The bathroom worked well, with a shower at a good temperature and pressure. It was a bit chilly in November, though opening the door to the bedroom radiator warmed it up before my shower. The basement stairs could be a problem for elderly or disabled guests, or anyone with huge luggage, but were fine for me as a healthy adult with hand luggage. I’m certain I’ll stay again.

The location is convenient, but our room was so tiny that we left and booked somewhere else. With a carry-on and a 28” suitcase open, there was no room left to sit, stand, or sleep comfortably. The bed was too small for us even though we’re both very slim, and the bathroom was extremely cramped too. It wasn’t soundproof either. We asked the front desk before leaving whether we could switch to a bigger room, but they said no and explained the historic building’s room sizes can’t be changed. Be aware that all the rooms will be this small. If you’re travelling alone and need a cheap place for one night because of the location, it might work. Otherwise, I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

We found the small room very good for what we needed, which was somewhere to sleep. The bed was comfortable, the temperature was just right, and our room had a type C plug. At night it was quiet outside, as the area is away from the city centre. The location is hard to beat, just a two-minute walk from St. Pancras and King's Cross stations, with connections to everywhere, and you can walk to the city centre too. When we come back to London, we know where to stay for good value.

The small single rooms suit me, and I like their snug feel, though they won’t be for everyone. The price is reasonable, the rooms are clean, and the beds and pillows are comfy. Staff are friendly and there’s someone on reception 24/7, so arriving late has never been an issue for me. It’s on a quiet, well-lit street. I stay here regularly and like it. But if you have big bags, are over 5ft 10, or need a desk, it probably won’t suit you. There are no lifts, and the single bed is small and tight.

The room was generally clean, and housekeeping did a nice job when I requested it once. At checkout, I left a day early, and the staff member asked if there was a problem. Perhaps they meant well, but it felt odd and abrupt for a straightforward early departure. The hotel is conveniently close enough to walk from St Pancras Station, which is practical for train travellers. My room was small and had no proper chair, so computer work was uncomfortable. It was freezing when I first got in because the window had been left open. I got the radiator working, but it took a while for the room to warm up, and I had to tuck towels along the window bottom to stop the draft. The location is excellent, though the room comfort could use some improvement.
