Luton Hoo Golf And Spa

The food place inside the venue was really so bad that I wouldn’t bother going. The grounds and spa facilities were nice, though, and the historical rooms, venue itself, and its staff were very good. We stayed overnight at Luton Hoo Hotel, which was good. I’ve written a detailed review on our blog, Life with Jupiter and Dann.

My daughters gave me a lovely retirement gift, a round of golf for two with my son in law. We couldn’t use it because of an injury, and when I called the office I was told the voucher had expired. It had been bought directly from Luton Hoo and was valid for just 4 months. I know vouchers have expiry dates, and I should have checked, but I asked whether we could play at another course or put the voucher toward the cost. They said no. Since Luton Hoo is closed anyway, I’d have thought a large hotel group like Arora might offer something, perhaps a discounted round elsewhere. I’m very disappointed, and embarrassed that such a lovely present has gone to waste.

I had trouble getting through to anyone for room service, even after several calls. In the end I had to find a member of staff in person just to get cutlery. That was the only real snag in an otherwise wonderful stay at Luton Hoo Hotel and Golf Course. The meals were exceptional, beautifully presented, and the drinks were superb, especially the Piña Coladas and champagne. The estate is breathtaking, with immaculate grounds, timeless architecture, and a quiet luxury about it. I look forward to going back.

I’ve been to this fantastic hotel a few times for afternoon tea and dinner, stayed overnight, and done pigeon clay shooting with breakfast and lunch. The service was great each time, and the staff were brilliant. Two years ago I took my dad there for his 60th birthday. The lovely lady serving lunch sang to him, then brought a beautiful plate with a complimentary cake and message. It was such a nice surprise, and he had a memorable birthday.
