The pub was good, with nice food and drinks, and the large function room would work well for a celebration. I could sometimes hear people in the pub or the room next door. It didn't bother me, though. This is an old building with a pub, so those sounds feel part of its charm. I stayed three nights and arrived early. Debs, the lovely and welcoming owner, made sure I could check in and that my room was ready. It was comfortable and had what I needed: a good bed, proper shower, tea and coffee. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout. There's no breakfast served, which might be something to work on for the future, but there are breakfast options not too far away. All in all, I had a lovely stay, felt very welcome and would definitely return. Thanks for everything.

The pub feels warm and welcoming now, and it's dog friendly. Sean and Grant have brought the place back to life. We tried the new carvery today and really enjoyed it. The food was lovely, very reasonably priced, and the service was top class.

We went for Mother's Day and didn't know it was carvery only, as there was no information anywhere. Nobody explained it, so we had to flag down inexperienced staff to ask. The setting was pleasant, but the restaurant felt cramped and nothing made it stand out. The food was okay, the desserts were nice, and prices were reasonable. An average experience.

Grant and Sean are great landlords and made everyone feel welcome. The Chequers Country Inn had a lovely atmosphere, with live music and an open fire, and I loved the Christmas decorations. The pub felt warm and friendly. I had a fantastic time.

Lucie deserves a mention, she was friendly, attentive and quick with the service. The food was delicious too, much better than typical pub food, and the reviews that led us to choose this pub were spot on. It's a big place with lots of rooms, plus darts and pool.
