Mode Hotel Lytham

Brian and I have stayed at Mode Lytham several times and always had a great time before. Room 101 last week was a different story. It was so hot, even with the fan running at full blast, and we couldn’t see out of the windows to check the weather. Twice we went out, found it was drizzling, and had to go back for our macs. Those two things marred the stay. The other rooms we’ve had were all lovely.

It's in a great spot for everything. We booked the hotel's cheapest room at a lower rate because of the noise from the extraction fans. Apart from that, it was a good location.

The Mode is quirky and a bit different, which is part of its appeal, though I can see it won't suit everyone. My room had a huge bed, a modern large TV, tea and coffee supplies, and a Nespresso machine. The bathroom was nicely fitted too, with a shower big enough for a family. The staff were polite and efficient, and the decor is fun. I'd stay again, especially because the location is perfect. Getting checked in took a phone call, but a few minutes later I was in my room. The main problem was the heat. It was 25°C outside, unusual for the UK, and I measured 29°C in the room. There was no air-conditioning. Opening the windows didn't help, and cooking smells from the ventilation systems at the back soon came in. A fan was provided, but it only pushed the warm air around. Noise from ventilation, cooking, and cleaning at the restaurants below carried on until 1am. That might not be an issue with the windows shut.

I've stayed here many times and will keep coming back. The location right in the middle of Clifton square is fantastic, and the rooms are clean with everything you need. Just a small observation from my last visit: the place may be getting to the point where it could use a little face lift.
