Holiday Inn Manchester - Media City

The staff were friendly and the hotel was lovely, but I didn’t sleep well. The bed was far too firm, like sleeping on bricks, and the pillows were much the same. I ended up using my clothes to make a softer pillow. There weren’t any alternative pillows in the room, as there are at other hotels around this price, and some extras would help.

We got a room high up and were lucky to have excellent views all the time, including a lovely sunrise. The hotel is an excellent choice for a Manchester visit: it’s a two minute walk to a tram stop, then about twenty minutes into the centre, and costs about half as much as comparable places in central Manchester. The rooms are spacious, clean and nicely decorated in a contemporary style. Staff were capable, friendly and always helpful, and breakfast was good.

Breakfast was great, with better options than at similar hotels. I stay in hotels often and was very happy here. The lifts are quite slow, though, so there can be a bit of a wait at busy times. I’d certainly stay again.

The location is perfect, with great transport links and plenty of places to eat nearby. My room on the 16th floor was really big and had great views, but there was very little space to hang clothes and no drawers, so it wouldn’t work well for a long stay. I haven’t tried the restaurant since Marco Pierre White left. Honestly, it can’t be any worse. I was embarrassed for him eating that slop. Good riddance. Still a great place to stay.
